‘Let’s Talk About Art’ invites guest speakers Shelley Falconer, the President & CEO of the Art Gallery of Hamilton and Ian Dejardin, the Executive Director of the McMichael Canadian Art Collection to explore the importance of permanent collections in regional art museums, conversation moderated by RAIN Director Karen Carter.   Do not miss out on this informative and compelling event.

Shelley Falconer, President and CEO of the Art Gallery of Hamilton

Along with being President and CEO of the Art Gallery of Hamilton since 2014, Shelley’s career includes national and international experience as a senior administrator, curator, consultant, fundraiser and educator. She has extensive experience with the supervision, stewardship and development of art, heritage and educational collections and has worked as a senior manager and curator with a variety of important cultural organizations including – Sotheby’s England, Waddington Galleries, England, the Art Gallery of Hamilton, the Government of Canada, the Ontario Government, the University of Toronto, the Art Gallery of Ontario and the McMichael Canadian Art Collection.

Ian Dejardin, the Executive Director of the McMichael Canadian Art Collection

Ian has served as the Director of the McMichael Canadian Art Collection since 2017 and was chief executive of the renowned Duwich Picture Gallery in London England for 12 years. He is a globally recognized leader in historical art with a passion for Canada and Canadian art. During his leadership at the Dulwich Picture Gallery, he coordinated a succession of record-breaking shows and more than doubled annual attendance at the gallery. Mr. Dejardin was the driving force behind the critically acclaimed Painting Canada exhibition at the Dulwich Picture Gallery, showcasing Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven.   That exhibition began in 2011 and moved to Norway at the National Museum of Art, Architecture, and Design in Oslo. Subsequently the exhibition travelled to the Groninger Museum in the Netherlands before returning to the McMichael and finishing there in early 2013.
