"My paintings have been exploring the motif of water as I began swimming laps over the last several months. Immersing myself physically in a state of floating and underwater flying inspires imagery and an accentuated flow between figurative and abstraction. A dream-like environment coalesces as I navigate these elements of water, air and space. It is important to me that the paintings work well as collections of space, colour, texture and energy, while also building a compelling image.
