A Private Collection of Michael Adamsons at 13th Street Gallery

ST CATHARINES – 13th Street Gallery located at 1776 Fourth Avenue in St. Catharines is proud to announce its upcoming exhibition MICHAEL ADAMSON featuring works by the artist from the private collection of John Mann opening Saturday March 5, 2022. Over 20 years ago a young Michael Adamson entered the Toronto Art Scene and collectors couldn’t get enough of his powerful and energetic paintings. Gary Michael Dault of the Globe and Mail hailed him as a terrific colourist that knows “extraordinarily well how to get paint onto a canvas”

Stored away for many years, it will be the first time these early works by Michael Adamson will be exhibited. This collection documents the artist’s exploration with colour and composition, they are beautiful paintings showcasing the artist’s creative journey. As Robert Enright of Border Crossings explains, “Adamson traces a gorgeous line between abstraction and landscape.”

Born in 1971 in Toronto, Ontario, Michael Adamson graduated from Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver in 1997. Since then, his work has been featured in dozens of solo and group exhibitions in Europe, Japan, the United States and across Canada. His paintings can be found in many public, private, and corporate collections including the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Bank of Montreal, Royal Bank of Canada, Holt Renfrew and the Metro Toronto Convention Center.

The exhibition will continue until Saturday March 26, 2022

Co-owner of 13th Street Winery, John Mann has been collecting and living with art for over fifty years, both at home and at work. Art has always been an integral part of the Winery’s vision to provide visitors with a unique experience that stimulates all the senses, not just taste. 13th Street Gallery opened its doors on November 2, 2019 offering guests the opportunity to view and purchase original artwork from the collection and beyond. The collection includes works by some of Canada’s most celebrated artists, including Harold Town of Toronto’s Painters Eleven and Jean-Paul Riopelle and Rita Letendre of Montreal’s Les Automatistes movements. The Gallery features both contemporary and historical Canadian fine art in a series of changing exhibitions. The Gallery is dedicated to selling Canadian art
