Canada’s National Treasure Joseph Drapell exhibits at 13th Street Gallery
ST CATHARINES – 13th Street Gallery located at 1776 Fourth Avenue in St. Catharines will be exhibiting new and historical works by Canadian senior artist Joseph Drapell opening Saturday, October 29, 2022. This exhibition entitled Re-Inventing Landscape will include some early pivotal works by the artist to show the scope of his 40 years development, and the roots his new body of works from 2022. Accompanying the exhibition is the launch of Dr. Ken Carpenter’s newest book, Joseph Drapell: Re-Inventing Landscape, a 116 pages hardcover book. We are honoured to introduce Dr. Carpenter’s study of Drapell’s works as he recalls his treasured fifty year’s friendship with the artist.
Dr. Ken Carpenter has been Guest Critic at the Emma Lake Artists Workshop, Chair of the Visual Arts Department at York University and President of the Canadian section of the International Association of Art Critics; he has over one hundred publications in Canada,
the United States, Switzerland and the United Kingdom on art, art history, art criticism, and art theory. Dr. Ken Carpenter passed away on Friday September 30th, 2022.
Joseph Drapell can be found in major Canadian and International collections such as the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the National Gallery, Prague, The British Museum, London, Museum of Modern Art, Vienna, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and Art Gallery of Hamilton.

13th Street Gallery opened its doors on November 2, 2019 offering guests the opportunity to view and purchase original artwork from the collection and beyond. The collection includes works by some of Canada’s most celebrated artists, including Harold Town of Toronto’s Painters Eleven and Jean-Paul Riopelle and Rita Letendre of Montreal’s Les Automatistes movements. The Gallery features both contemporary and historical Canadian fine art in a series of changing exhibitions. The Gallery is dedicated to selling Canadian art.
