Collection: Maddy Gordon

Maddy Gordon is currently in her last year of Visual Arts at Brock University. Specializing in drawing, painting, and photography, Maddy’s abstract paintings explore the intersections of the human body, womanhood, and the natural world. Inspired by the subtle beauty in our surroundings, Maddy draws influence from elements such as trees, smoke, water, wind, and the sky to influence her mark making. Her artwork serving as a visual and visceral celebration of the interconnectedness between external landscapes and internal emotions. Additionally, she finds herself exploring the nuanced portrayal of womanhood and the female body, using art as an attempt to break free from stereotypes to embrace the diverse experiences of being a woman. Simultaneously, she often references qualities associated with the body, using organic, abstract forms that mimic the flowing movements of limbs and the internal processes of the body, ultimately creating a dialogue on the profound connection between mind, body, and spirit.

Maddy Gordon's artistic journey invites viewers to contemplate the intricacies of existence, appreciating the inherent poetry found in the convergence of the physical, metaphysical, and feminine.
