Hannah Holmes is a retired Economics Assistant Professor at McMaster University and a recent graduate from Brock University’s Visual Arts Program in St. Catharines. She has been living in the Niagara Region and has been homebound lately looking after her bedridden husband. Her current situation has limited her from traveling which has had a strong influence on her subject matter.
With a tendency towards the darker and melancholic side, her paintings focus on still life and figurative subjects, however as of late she is exploring landscapes that help break her view of her indoor environment. Preferring to use acrylics for their fast-drying properties, Hannah strives to create works that capture emotions that resonate with the viewer.
