Marleen Burgess was born in Hamilton, Ontario and is currently living in Stoney Creek. She had developed a career working in the design and construction industry. In 2009 while working in North Bay she was inspired to explore plaster as an art form, creating her own unique ‘plaster on canvas’ signature.

Mesmerized by the beauty of Northern Canada and seduced by the complex, ever-evolving, and at times temperamental process of using this material, Burgess’ works explore both realism and abstraction.
