Marsha Newby grew up in Burlington, Ontario. After receiving her Honours B.A. in Fine Art at the University of Guelph she began showing her work in the Greater Toronto Area. Her paintings were featured in over 30 solo and group shows. After a 20 year hiatus for family and a career in youth mental health, Marsha built a backyard studio and resumed painting full time.

She paints the emotions of the human condition, recognized sensations. The dramatic figural poses capture a fleeting silent moment, energy of our emotions outside of words. The figures are without distractions, in a field of colour that tells the story, an animated emptiness that sets an emotional pitch and resonates with our often unspoken inner emotional world
