Matt Bahen
Toronto-based painter Matt Bahen is primarily influenced by literature. He is particularly inspired by the writings of Cormac McCarthy and T.S Eliot. Using a variety of motifs such as fire, water and animals, his impasto compositions are both highly engaging and emotive. Bahen constructs individual narratives in his landscape paintings that remain in a perpetual state of tension.
Matt Bahen was born in 1979 in Schomberg, Ontario. He received his BFA from the Ontario College of Art and Design in 2002. In 2013, his solo exhibition, Gravity Faith, was held at the MacLaren Art Centre in Barrie. Bahen is represented in Toronto and New York.
