Romain De Tirtoff Erté

Russian-born French artist and designer, Erté (Romain de Tirtoff) (1892-1990) was famous for his glamorous Art Deco styled opera sets, fashion designs and graphic arts. From 1916 to 1937 he worked for the infamous American fashion magazine Harper’s Bazaar. For 35 years he designed elaborate sets and costumes for French theatres, including the historic Folies-Bergère.
