Sakis Mits completed his BFA at the Ontario College of Art and Design and his Master of Fine Arts at the University of Guelph.
In a 2000 article in the Globe and Mail, Gary Michael Dault describes Sakis’ paintings as “…lush encaustics on board, arrangements of hotly coloured, amoeba-like shapes floating hither and yon, embedded, suspended in the lens-like wax (encaustic is pigment seized up in hot wax) as if they were microbes you were peering at through a microscope. The colour is opulent.”
