About Dennis Lukas

Local artist Dennis Lukas (1947-2003) was greatly inspired by The Group of Seven and kept correspondence with various of its members, such as A.Y. Jackson and Arthur Lismer. He was born in Grimsby, Ontario in 1947. He studied at the Museum of Fine Arts School in Montreal. In 2005 an exhibition, Inspired by Icons: Dennis Lukas and the Group of Seven, at the Grimsby Public Art Gallery, explored the close links that Lukas maintained with The Group. His large body of mainly landscape paintings include many Niagara scenes.
